Suppose.
Assume sum=100% of x apples.
Already he sells off 40% x apples.
Then we have to do (100 - 40) % of x = 60% of x.
Now 60/100 of x = 420 (when and/is given we have to take '=' operator).
3/5 of x =420.
3x =420 * 5
3x =2100.
x =700.
