analyze this way... saletax on tax
6% is 30ps that is saletax on tax so find tax...
if 6%=30ps find for 100% u get tax
non taxable items = cost-tax-saletax = 25 - 5 - .3 = 19.70

I need help with these 2 questions:
1) A table and two chairs together cost $400. If by selling the chairs at 10% loss and the table at 10% profit, a total of 5% profit is made. What is the cost price of a chair?
2) A container contains 30 litres of alcohol. From this container 5 litres of liquid is taken out and the container is completely filled by water. Next time 6 litres of mixture was taken out and the container was completely filled with water. Approx how much percent alcohol is left behind in the container?

1.question not understand
2.1st 25lit alchol+5lit water
ratio 5:1
Taking 6 lit means 5lit alchol and 1lit water are taken out therefore 20lit alchol and 4 lit water are remaining after that 6lit water is filled
20/30*100=66.66%

1. The first question can be solved in this way...
Take x as the price of chair n y as price of table.
2x+y=400 -eq1
Now with 10% loss in chair so subtract 0.1*2=0.2 from 2x and add 0.1 in y in Eq 1 and 5% profit in total so add 20 to 400
1.8x+1.1Y= 420 - eq2
Solve 1 and 2 eq we will get x as RS

5% of income of A is equal to 15% income of B and 10% of income of B is equal to 20% of income of C .if income of C is 20,000/-,then total income of A B C.

Income of C is 20, 000.
20% of C = 10% of B.
So 20/100*20000=10/100*B.
We got B as 40000.
Then 5% of A = 15% of B.
5/100*A= 15/100*40000.
We got A as 120000.
Total is A+B+C=120000+40000+20000.
Total is 1, 80, 000/-.
20% of C = 10% of B.
So 20/100*20000=10/100*B.
We got B as 40000.
Then 5% of A = 15% of B.
5/100*A= 15/100*40000.
We got A as 120000.
Total is A+B+C=120000+40000+20000.
Total is 1, 80, 000/-.

.30 is the actual tax paid not a part of the taxable portion which is rs.5.So .30 should not be included in the end of the solution.
