What is R's share of profit in a joit venture?

I.

Q started business investing Rs. 80,000.

II.

R joined him after 3 months.

 III.

P joined after 4 months with a capital of Rs. 1,20,000 and got Rs. 6000 as his share profit.

All I, II and III
I and III only
II and III only
Even with all I, II and III, the answer cannot be arrived at
None of these
Answer: Option
Explanation:

From I, II and III, we get P : Q : R = (120000 x 8) : (80000 x 12) : (x x 9).

Since R's investment is not given, the above ratio cannot be give.

Given data is inadequate.

None of these. Because using 2 & 3 as well as using 1, 2 & 3 we can reach the answer. So option E, not because of inadequate of data but of other options are not suitable.

Given answer is correct.

Profit percentage also depends on the duration of investment which is not given. So we cannot calculate the required thing.

P joining after 4 months so in 12 months - 4 months he gets 8 months profit. Likewise, Q gets 12 months and R gets 9 months profit.

Answer should be A.

Since, the profit of P is given we can find out x i.e, R's investment. Please reconsider your explanation.

Consider a 1 year investment and you can easily find out x by the equation discussed above. So answer should be (A).

Answer could not be found because both the duration of investment and the amount invested by R is not given.

But P's share is given.

So we can calculate the value of x by using

12000*8/(12000*8+8000*12+9x) = 6000.

Answer is A. As we can calculate x from given share of p. As x is the only unknown variable here.
