  • Give answer (A) if the data in Statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.

2.

Rahul, Anurag and Vivek started a business together. In what proportion would the annual profit be distributed among them?

I.

Rahul got one-fourth of the profit.

 II.

Rahul and Vivek contributed 75% of the total investment.

I alone sufficient while II alone not sufficient to answer
II alone sufficient while I alone not sufficient to answer
Either I or II alone sufficient to answer
Both I and II are not sufficient to answer
Both I and II are necessary to answer
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let the total investment be Rs. x.

Then, R = x
4

R + V = 75 x x = 3x
100 4

V = 3x - x = x .
4 4 2

A = x - x + x = x
4 2 4

R : A : V = x : x : x = 1 : 1 : 2.
4 4 2

Thus, both I and II are needed to get the answer.

Correct answer is (E).

Solution is wrong because in question Rahul has been allotted one fourth of profit, while in the solution he has been given one fourth of investment.

The question is implemented wrong as the question says rahul got one fourth of profit not of the total investment so the answer is D.

How come profit equal to investment for Rahul?

Anyone help me to understand, why the solution takes R=X/4?

Guys, This rule will solve all your confusions.

"When investments of all the partners are for the same time, the gain or loss is distributed among the partners in the ratio of their investments.

Suppose A and B invest Rs. x and Rs. y respectively for a year in a business, then at the end of the year:

(A's share of profit) : (B's share of profit) = x : y.

Ya himanshu is write .in solution part you assign x/4 part to rhaul. Then here x means profit gain. If x is gain profit then there will be some investment although this quesiotn is true only when there will be no any profit as well as loss there.

Please reconsider.

Answer could be E. Because we can take it based on observations. like
Rahul ans 1, Vivek x and Anurag (3-x). Simple calculations will give
answer as E.

What would be the answer if the second statement said: Anurag and Vivek contributed 75% of total investment? Please tell me.

While considering I & II, we conclude the answer is E.
