Hi guys, Let take a look on the below if total profit is 100 remaining profit is 95 (because the 5% profit goes to charity) so now the profit need distribute to A and B Bow we can calculate the A's profit A's Profit = (3/5)*95 = 57 As per problem A got Rs 855 So 57% = 855 So we need full profit = (855/57)*100 = 1500 |

Let A's share is Rs x A's Profit after 5% charity is Rs 855, Then A's net profit after charity is 95% of x is equal to Rs 855i.e. (95*x)/100=855 x=Rs 900 Let Total profit is Rs Y A's and B's Share is in Ratio of 3:2 A's share in buisseness is (3*Y)/5 is equal to 900 i.e (3*Y)/5=900 Total Profit (Y)=Rs 1500 |

As per formulae:Suppose A and B invest Rs. x and Rs. y respectively for a year in a business, then at the end of the year: (A's share of profit) : (B's share of profit) = x : y. A's total profit=855+5%0f 855=900 let B,s total profit is x so 900/x=3/2 x=600 So total profit= A profit+b profit=900+600=1500 |

Swathi said: (Jan 26, 2012)

Hey by taking optins A 1425. So. 1425*3/5=855. So 1st option is also correct.. |

S.Bhavani said: (Feb 13, 2012)

A:B= 3:2, If 5% of the total profit goes to charity then A's share is Rs. 855, so total profit after goes to charity is, (3/5)*X=855 so X= (855*5)/3 X=1425 so total profit= X+ 5% of total profit = 1425+ 5% of total profit So the total profit is total profit after goes to charity and 5% of the total profit. By verifying options [A] is not correct Taking [B] 5% of 1500 = (5/100)*1500= 75 So 1425+ 75 =1500. |

Ravi said: (May 26, 2012)

Let total profit= x. Since 5% goes to chairity so. Now total profit=95x/100. So this profit distribute between A and B. 95x/100*3/5=855. X=1500. |

Kiran said: (May 26, 2012)

A's Profit = 3/5 i.e 855 B's Profit = 2/5 ; 2/5 of Profit = ? 3/5= 0.6; 2/5=0.4 ; 0.4*855/0.6= 570 A+ B = 1425 (Which is 95% of profit) ; 5% = 0.05*1425*.95 =75 Total Profit = 1425 + 75 = 1500; |

Akshit Bhatia said: (Jun 13, 2012)

Total profit = x. 5% is going to charity. So remaining is 95%. 95x/100*3/5 = 855. X = 855*5/3*100/95. X is 1500. |

Abhishek said: (Jul 11, 2012)

It is also done by this method. 855 is A. Total 855*5/3=1425. Now 1425*100/95 =1500. |

5% to charity therefore..95%=0.95 to both a and b let x be the total profit 0.95*x*(3/5)=855 therefore... x=1500 |

Prasad said: (Sep 6, 2012)

We know a's share is 855, so a gotb 3rd part of profit after giving fund to charity so b should get 2nd part from total money so we divide 855/3 that is 285 then we get 1 part. Then we want 2nd part of total profit so 285*2=570, then total a and b profit after giving fund is 1425. Then view answers and find 5% of total money from options if you got 1425 after geting 5% from answer that is the answer. |

Vns said: (Sep 20, 2012)

Let x is total profit. 5% is given to charity. So new profit =95% 0f x. There fore a's profit will be 3/5*new profit. Therefore 3/5*95/100*x=a's profit. 3/5*95/100*x=855. X=1500. |

Madhukumar E said: (Feb 22, 2014)

Easy method: Let's assume B's share as x. 855/x = 3/2. So, x = 570. Then 570 + 855 = 1425 + 5% = 1496.25. Which would approximate to 1500. |

Sudha said: (Feb 22, 2014)

Easy method A's share 3part = 855. So one part of A = 855/3 = 285. Now B's share = 285*2 = 570. So 95% of profit = 1425. 100% share = 1425/95*100 = 1500. |

Let total profit be Rs. 100 . A's share,if profit is Rs. 100 = [95*3/5]=Rs.57. If A's share is Rs.855,profit = ? VARIATION Share | Profit Rs.57 | Rs.100 Rs.855 | x Direct Variation: 855/57 * 100 = x. x = Rs.1500. Total Profit = Rs.1500. |

Naveen.Kuntla said: (Mar 30, 2014)

I will agree with you for taking the total profit to be 100. But if we verify the answer. A's share = 3/5*1500 = 900. But there in question A's share of profit = 855. In the given options if we take total profit = 1425. The A's share = 3/5*1425 = 855. 1425 should be the answer in my view. Anyone reply me if I am wrong. |

Vaibhav Pandey said: (May 18, 2014)

Can it be done like this instead of assuming that total profit = 100. a:b = 3:2. Profit of a = 855. Total profit of the firm = 855*5/3 = 1425. I don't know why it is wrong. |

Total 100. 95 for A & B which is shared by 3:2. i.e. 57:38. In 100 A get 57 so if we cross multiply we will get 1500. i.e. 100 57 100*855/57. |

Swati said: (Sep 27, 2014)

Let total profit is x rs. Then remaing profit (x-x*5/100). = 95x/100. A's profit is 3/5*95x/100. = 57x/100. But A'shares of profit is given as 855 so 57x/100 = 855. x = 1500 that is total profit. |

Vishnu said: (Nov 4, 2014)

A's Share is 855 i.e. From that ratio 3:2. 3 is 855. We need total so add the ratio value 3+2=5. Using proportional method, 3 855 5 x 3x=5*855 => x=1425. This 1425 is 95% we need 100% so use same method, 95 1425 100 x 95x=100*1425 =>x=1500. |

Let x be the total profit, after charity profit becomes x-5. So A's share = 3/5 (x-5). And in the question A's share = 855. Equating A's share, we get. = 3/5(x-5) = 855. After solving we get x = 1500. |

Rohit said: (Jun 30, 2015)

Suppose total profit = X. Ratio of investment of A and B = 3:2. A's share = Rs. 855. In ratio A has 3 units, So, 855/3 gives value of one unit. Therefore, 855/3 = Rs. 285. Value of one unit = Rs. 285. Total units we have = 5. So, the profit they both get after giving 5 percent money to charity = 285*5 = Rs. 1425. Now, according to question, X - 5% of X = 1425. X - 5X/100 = 1425. 100X - 5X. 95X = 142500. X = 142500 = Rs. 1500. |

Prem said: (Jul 24, 2015)

3 = 855. 2 = ? => 855*2 = 1500. B's share is 1500. |

Bhavishya Borra said: (Sep 13, 2015)

After 5% of charity, A's share 855. i.e 95% --> 855. 100% --> (100*855)/95 = 900. 900 rs --> 3 parts. (600) rs --> 2 parts. Finally A's share + B's share = 900+600 = 1500. |

Muhammed Afees said: (Oct 26, 2015)

Profit sharing ratio A:B 3:2. A share of profit 855. Let's take 100% total profit. Hence total profit = 855*5/3 = 1425 (95%). Total profit with 5% given to charity = 1425*100/95 = 1500 (100%). |

Sweety said: (Jun 26, 2016)

Is there any trick to solve such kind of question without doing all this calculation? |

Muneeb said: (Oct 14, 2016)

Since 5% of total profit goes to charity, that means "A" receives only 95% and same goes to B he will also receive 95% . 95% of X = 855, means "X" is the 100 percent Amount. 95/1OO * X = 855; 95x = 85500 or x = 900, which concludes 900 is the 100 percent amount , and 45 rupees are the 5% given by A towards charity . Now as we all know if we have to calculate the total profit we use . Total share of investor/his ratio * total ratio or 900/3 * 5, it's 900 divided by 3 then multiplied by 5 which is equal to 1500, in the same case if you have to find "B" share then do 900/3 * 2 or when we calculate individual share we use total share of A/ratio of A multiplied by Ratio of B. |

Sandhya said: (Nov 28, 2016)

Suppose total profit = X. The ratio of investment of A and B = 3:2. A's share = Rs. 855. In ratio A has 3 units, So, 855/3 gives the value of one unit. Therefore, 855/3 = Rs. 285. The value of one unit = Rs. 285. Total units we have = 5. So, the profit they both get after giving 5 percent money to charity = 285 * 5 = Rs. 1425. Now, according to question, X - 5% of X = 1425. X - 5X/100 = 1425. 100X - 5X. 95X = 142500. X = 142500 = Rs. 1500. |

Basically, total Share given to A is 95% i.e 855. Therefore totally A got 900 (855/95) * 100, and the investment is 3 : 2, so if 3 is 900, 2 will be 600, 900+600 = 1500. |

Let x be the number. A : B = 3 : 2,that is 3x : 2x, 3x = 855. X = 285,B share is 2(285) = 570. 570 + 855 = 1425. Remaining percentage left is 95 is 1425. Then 5 percentage is? 95-1425. 5 -. ? That is 1425*5/95=1500 that's the answer. |

Let us take total profit =100. The ratio of A and B is 3:2. And 5% goes to charity from total profit 95% remaining, In that 95% profit A share is 3/5, So 95 * 3/5 = 57. In, 100% investment A share is 57 this is assumption, Given A share is 855 and B share is? By finding that B share we have do cross multiplication. 100 57 B. 855 BY DOING THAT U HAVE TO GET B SHARE = 1500. |

A= 3 B = 2. (A + B = 5X). 855 = 3. NOW DIVIDE 855 / 3 = 285 (NOW WE CAN GET 1 X OF A). NOW WE KNOW 1 X OF THE TOTAL 5X. SO TOTAL A 3 + B 2 = 5X ...SO MULTIPLY 285 * 5 = 1425. THIS 1425 IS EQUAL TO 95 % BECAUSE 5% GOES TO CHARITY. APPLY 1425 = 95%. ?? = 100%. (1425 * 100) / 95 = 1500. |

Sri Rangini said: (Oct 22, 2017)

3 Parts of A is --------------------> 855. 2 Parts of B is ---------------------> X. So first find the value of X. Cross multiply 2 Parts of B * 855/3 =>2*855/3=570 2 Part of B is 570. Now add both value of A share and B share= 855+570= 1425. 1425 is 95% because 5% is given to charity. 5% of 1425 is 75. then add 5% and 95% = 1425 + 75 =1500. |

Subramanian said: (Feb 14, 2018)

3% is 855. Then for 5 portions 855÷3=285*5=1450. Now we have to consider the amount which goes to Charity 5%. So 1450 is just 95%. 1450÷95*100. =1500. Hence proved. |

Laxmi said: (Jul 28, 2018)

Hi. After giving 5% profit to charity, A's share is 855 i.e 95% is remaining. hence For 100%, (100*855)/95=900, So, Now A's share is 900, Hence From the ratio, we can calculate. 3x=900. x=300. As we know B's ratio is 2x=2*300=600. Hence, add both A's share and B's share. 900+600=1500. This is the total profit. |

Nithish said: (Feb 25, 2020)

As per the question here time period is same so ratio of investment is equal to ratio of profit. So, A:B = 3:2. Here after giving 5% from the total profit to the charity then A's profit is Rs. 855 as per the given information. A = (5/ (5+2) ) *total profit. 855 = (5/7) * total profit. Total profit = 855*7/5. Total profit = Rs. 1425. I got this answer this is also correct method but how do you get 1500 answer? |

Mallikarjun said: (Mar 31, 2020)

Solution: A:B =3:2 Consider formula I*T =P. 855 = 3/5 * Total profit. Then Total profit = (855*5)/3. Total profit = 1425 it consists of only 95 percent. And 5 percent is donated as a charity. So 1425/95 = 15. And we need 100 percentage. Then 15 is only 1 percent. We need 100 percent. So, 100*15= 1500. |
