Suppose B joined for x months. Then,

Then, 85000 x 12 = 3
42500 x x 1

x = 85000 x 12 = 8.

Here the question asked as- after how many months did B join with A. So the answer is 4 months, not 8 months.

1020000/3 = 340000,
340000/42500 = 8.
