A, B and C jointly thought of engaging themselves in a business venture. It was agreed that A would invest Rs. 6500 for 6 months, B, Rs. 8400 for 5 months and C, Rs. 10,000 for 3 months. A wants to be the working member for which, he was to receive 5% of the profits. The profit earned was Rs. 7400. Calculate the share of B in the profit.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
For managing, A received = 5% of Rs. 7400 = Rs. 370.
Balance = Rs. (7400 - 370) = Rs. 7030.
Ratio of their investments = (6500 x 6) : (8400 x 5) : (10000 x 3)
= 39000 : 42000 : 30000
= 13 : 14 : 10

@Nitish Kashyap,
The ratio of the total investments that are made;
I.A x+I.B y+I.c z(where I.A, I.B, I.C are investments made by persons A,B,C respectively and the x,y,z are the times frame for Investment of every partner.According to partnership formula, the ratio of profit shares is same to the investments of those partners. meaning I.A x : I.B y :I.C z = P.A : P.B :P.C.

Total profit = 7400.
He(A) was to receive 5% of the profits.
So 7400*5/100 = 370Rs.
Remaining amt for A, B &C = 7400-370 = 7030 Rs.
Ratio of their investments = (6500 x 6) : (8400 x 5) : (10000 x 3).
= 39000:42000:30000:
Simple method = total investment of all people = 39000+42000+30000
= 111000Rs.
Make it % wise for B(B's investment = 42000Rs).
i.e.
111000 ------ 100.
42000 -------- X(say).
Solve it will get profit of B.
X = 37.837837.
Profit of B = 7030*37.837837/100 = 2659.999.
2660 is the profit of B.
He(A) was to receive 5% of the profits.
So 7400*5/100 = 370Rs.
Remaining amt for A, B &C = 7400-370 = 7030 Rs.
Ratio of their investments = (6500 x 6) : (8400 x 5) : (10000 x 3).

111000 ------ 100.
42000 -------- X(say).

X = 37.837837.
Profit of B = 7030*37.837837/100 = 2659.999.
2660 is the profit of B.

Friends easy.
5% profit from total is taken extra by a so that total profit's 5% is 7400*5/100 = 370.
And now it is subtracted from 7400 which can be disturbed in A B C equally.
7400-370 = 7030.
And a's total investment = 6500*6 (months).
B's total investment = 8400*5 (months).
C's total investment = 10000*3 (months).
A's total investment : B's total investment : C's total investment.
13:14:10. And now sum of them is 37.
Now you know that B's share is 14 times means.
14/37*7030 = 190 is answer.

"A would invest Rs. 6500 for 6 months, B, Rs. 8400 for 5 months and C, Rs. 10, 000 for 3 months".
Does this not mean the Rs 6500, 8400, 10000 were invested at once for 6, 5, 3 months respectively?
And the ratio should be calculated as 65000/6: 8400/5: 10000/3.
It's not that they were investing Rs 6500, 8400, 10000 every month for 6, 5, 3 months respectively, right?

Why 6500 is multiplied by 6 and als 8400 with 5 and 10000 with 3 ?
Money is not invested every month but it is invested once.
Then why it is multiplied with 6, 5 and 3?

Yes we should again include A for total part (37) since 'A' received 5% profit as working member only.
5% profit = (5/100)*7400 = 370.
Remaining profit would be 7400-370 = 7030.
Again 'A' would receive profit share.
= 6500*6/8400*5/10000*10.
= 13/14/10.
Total part = 37.
So 'B' share is (14/37)*7030 = 2660.
