10.
A and B started a business in partnership investing Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively. After six months, C joined them with Rs. 20,000. What will be B's share in total profit of Rs. 25,000 earned at the end of 2 years from the starting of the business?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
A : B : C = (20,000 x 24) : (15,000 x 24) : (20,000 x 18) = 4 : 3 : 3.

Given:
2 years = 24 months.
C joins only after 6 months
First 6 months - A and B will be working.
Remaining 18 months - A, B, C will be working [here 18 = 24 - 6].
Thus, ratios of A, B, C.
(20,000 x 24) : (15,000 x 24) : (20,000 : 18) = 4 : 3 : 3 [Total = 4 + 3 + 3 = 10].
B's share out of 25,000 which is the total profit = (3/10) * (25,000),
= 7500.
Hope this helps.

Why we can not solve this problem by this method?
profit = 25000 years = 2.
Profit ratio for first 6 months was = 4:3 and after 6 months = 4;3;4
First 6 months profit = 25000/24 x 6 = 6250, A's share = 2572 B's share is 3/7 = 2678.
25000-6250 = 18750.
Now B's share is 3/11 = 5113.
So, B will get 2678+5113 = 7791.
profit = 25000 years = 2.

Hello for two years we have 12*12 = 24 months and here they mentioned after 6 months C joined so from 24 months we less 6 then we get 24-6 = 18 i.e how we got 18 here.
I think it is helpful to understand this right.

You are confuse 10 is sum of ratio so for decide profit of B only it is divide by 10. But to take ratio in simplified format it is divide by 12 because 48, 36 both come in table of 12 so it is easy to simplify it.

Hi sujana, 2years in the sense 24 months. C only join after six months. So 18 months. B ratio is 3. Sum of ratio is 10. So we have devide 3/10 then multiply with overall profit.

Ratios are 4 : 3 : 3.
We can say that A's share = 4 out of 4 + 3 + 3,
Similarly, B's share = 3 out of 4 + 3 + 3,
And C's share = 3 out of 4 + 3 + 3 or 3 out of 10 or 3/10.
We can say that A's share = 4 out of 4 + 3 + 3,
Similarly, B's share = 3 out of 4 + 3 + 3,
And C's share = 3 out of 4 + 3 + 3 or 3 out of 10 or 3/10.

Hai prem 3/10 is becoz out of 10 share B's share is 3.....
To get total profit we r multiplying 25000 wit 3/10....
I think now u got cleared nu.....

@Durai.
(20,000 x 24):(15,000 x 24):(20000 x 18)
= 480000:360000:360000
= 48:36:36
= 4:3:3 ...........(Dividing with 12)
Is it clear ?

There is no any clue in question that their investment is monthly. So how can we multiply the investment by number of months?

Why did you divide it by 12? I know that you will only divide it by their sum. If I'm not mistaken?
