In a division sum, the remainder is 0. As student mistook the divisor by 12 instead of 21 and obtained 35 as quotient. What is the correct quotient ?
0
12
13
20
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Number = (12 x 35)

Correct Quotient = 420 รท 21 = 20

It is very simple. See, as we all know the formula.

Divisor = Dividend-Remainder/Quotient.

Now we have given Remainder=0, Quotient=35 and having two divisor one is true and other is by mistake taken by him.

So true divisor = 21 and by mistake divisor is 12 and we have to find the correct quotient. So, as he has taken false divisor so it is obvious that quotient is also false.

Now our formula become like this:

False divisor = True dividend - Remainder/False quotient.

Now put the value in this:

12 = True dividend - 0/35.
12*35 = True dividend - 0.
420 + 0 = True dividend.

So our true dividend = 420.

True Divisor is already given in question that is = 21.

Now, Dividend / Divisor => 420/21.

That is 20 Answer.

Very simple, when a number is divided by 12 and it obtained quotient as 35, it means the dividend is (12*35) = 420.

Divisor 12 was mistake made by student. Correct divisor to be used is 21 and that will give the reminder 0 which is mentioned in question.

So, 420/21 = 20 as quotient and reminder will be 0.

Dividend =( divisor) X q + remainder.

Given:
Divisor = 12 , Quotient = 35, Remainder = 0 (Wrong data)
Divisor = 21 (Truedata)
Putting Wrong information in Formula We will get Dividend,
dividend = 12 x 35 = 420.
we know true Divisor.
Again By formula,
420/21 = 20 <==ANS.

A number when divided by 5.leaves 3 as a remainder, a candidate took 12 as divisor instead of 21.the quotient obtained by him was 35. Find the correct quotient.

Can anyone answer this?

35*12 = 420,
Quotient = 420/21 = 20.
