In 3 min gain is 5 sec
so in 15 min gain is 25 sec
and in 60 min gain will be 100 sec
so in 9 hours and 15 min gain will be
925 sec i.e. 925/60 = 15 5/12
so correct ans is 3pm 59 7/12 min
Tell me whats wrong in my explanation ?

so in 9 hours and 15 min gain will be
925 sec i.e. 925/60 = 15 5/12

3 min - 5 sec.
30 min - 50 sec.
60 min - 100 sec. [ 1 hour - 100 sec]
9 hours - 900 sec [900 sec = 15 min ].
The clock is showing 4:15 and we know that it gained 15 mins
Therefore it must the real-time is 4 pm.

If Error-Clock passes 185 secs then Original-Clock passes 180 sec only.
So, If Error-Clock passes 33300 secs (ie 9 hr 15 min) then Original-Clock passes 32400 sec only.
Hope you got it. Have a nice day!

3 Min = 5 sec fast,
1 Hour = 1.66 Min fast (100 sec),
Normally, 9 hr has = 9 * 60 min i.e 540,
For error, 9 hr has = 9 * 61.66 min i.e 554.94,
So, 554.94 - 540 = 14.94 min,
Hence the answer is 4.

From 7am to 4:15pm it takes 9hrs15mins. But for ever 3mins the secs hand moves 5secs extra so so 9hrs15mins =x (3+ (5/60))because 1sec=1/60 so5secs=5/60. X=540mins. 540mins=9hrs so 9hrs from 7am is 4pm.

A watch which gains 5 seconds in 3 minutes was set right at 7 a.m? what does it actually means?
Ans: Whenever a original clock runs for 3 min (180 sec) the given clock will run 3 min 5 sec (185 sec).

3M = 5s.
60M = 100s.
9H = (9 * 60m) = (9 * 100s) = 900s.
15M = 25s.
900S + 25s = 925s.
925S / 60s = 15.4m.
So, 15.4 is faster.
So reduce the faster value in actual value.
4.15m - 0.15m = 4h.
60M = 100s.
9H = (9 * 60m) = (9 * 100s) = 900s.
15M = 25s.
900S + 25s = 925s.
925S / 60s = 15.4m.
So, 15.4 is faster.
So reduce the faster value in actual value.
4.15m - 0.15m = 4h.

You are totally wrong @Gjm.
You can't multiple two different units of time without converting them i.e. 20 min * 5 sec = 100 sec is not possible it could be (20 min/60) sec * 5 sec = whatever.

For 3 mins it gains 5 seconds.
Then for 925 minutes (9hr 15 min) it gains 15 mins 25 seconds.
So, subtract 15 mins 25 seconds from 4:15.
We will get 3:59:35 which is 59* (7/12) mins past 3.
Then for 925 minutes (9hr 15 min) it gains 15 mins 25 seconds.
So, subtract 15 mins 25 seconds from 4:15.
We will get 3:59:35 which is 59* (7/12) mins past 3.

3 min = 3+ 5/60 min = 3+1/12 = 37/12 min.
quarter past = 15 min.
7am-4:15pm = 9hr 15 min= 9 x 60+15=555min.
for 37/12 min = 3 min,
for 555min = ?
540min.
540/60 = 9hr,
7am + 9h = 4pm.
quarter past = 15 min.
7am-4:15pm = 9hr 15 min= 9 x 60+15=555min.
for 37/12 min = 3 min,
for 555min = ?
540min.
540/60 = 9hr,
7am + 9h = 4pm.
