Explanation:
After 10 days : 150 men had food for 35 days.
Suppose 125 men had food for x days.
Now, Less men, More days (Indirect Proportion)
125 : 150 :: 35 : x
125 x x = 150 x 35

What if the question had been how many more days the food lasts? Then would the answer be 42-35 = 7 more days.

Food for 25 men for 35 would be left which could be consumed by other 125 (this would be devided or distributed in these people) so the equation becomes,
=> 25*35/125.
=7.
So total day the food lasts long =35+7=42.
=> 25*35/125.
=7.
