x meters--->d rupees.

For 1 meter, we get d/x.

For y meters simply multiply d/x with y.

Cost of x meters is d. Cost of 1 meters is d/x. Then cost of why meters is d*y/x.

If the cost of x meters is d. then cost of one meter will be d/x. then if we have to find the cost of y meters we have to multiply the y with cost for one meter. thus it is y*d/x.
