Odd days in 300 years = (5 x 3)

97 years has 24 leap years + 73 ordinary years.
Number of odd days in 97 years ( 24 x 2 + 73) = 121 = 2 odd days.
Jan. Feb. March April May June (31 + 28 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 17) = 168 days
168 days = 24 weeks = 0 odd day.
Total number of odd days = (0 + 1 + 2 + 0) = 3.
Given day is Wednesday.

When no.of days are divided by 7 we get reminder, the reminder is called odd days.
Eg. In one year [non-leap year] there are 365 days,
So 365/7 = 1[reminder].
Then there is 1 Odd day in one year.
Simply no.of days/7 = reminder means odd days.

So, 01-01-1998 falls on Wednesday(4th day of week),
Jan 31 + Feb 28 + Mar 31 + Apr 30 + May 31 + Jun 17 = 168 /7 = 24 weeks + 0 day,
So, 17 jun 1998 falls on Wednesday.
499/7 = 71 weeks + 2 days,
So, 01-01-1998 falls on Wednesday(4th day of week),
