What will be the cost of painting the inner walls of a room if the rate of painting is Rs. 20 per square foot?

I.

Circumference of the floor is 44 feet.

 II.

The height of the wall of the room is 12 feet.

I alone sufficient while II alone not sufficient to answer
II alone sufficient while I alone not sufficient to answer
Either I or II alone sufficient to answer
Both I and II are not sufficient to answer
Both I and II are necessary to answer
Answer: Option
Explanation:

I gives, 2R = 44.

II gives, H = 12.

A = 2RH = (44 x 12).

Cost of painting = Rs. (44 x 12 x 20).

Thus, I and II together give the answer.

Correct answer is (E).

It is not given in the question that the room is cylindrical in shape. If we consider it to be square plus if the walls are not of the same dimensions then it cannot be solved.

How the cylinder formula is used? Can anyone explain?

It is not mentioned that the room is cylindrical. Normally one assumes the room is rectangular in shape.

The shape of the room is not mentioned. Then, how can we consider it as cylindrical?

How can we take it as cylindrical?

Cylindrical room? The answer cannot be determined by the data.

Yes, in a Question it is not mentioned that room is cylindrical but in option, they gave data in terms of a circle. Due to this, we have to assume wall as a cylindrical in shape.
