The ratio between the perimeter and the breadth of a rectangle is 5 : 1. If the area of the rectangle is 216 sq. cm, what is the length of the rectangle?

2l + 2b = 5b
3b = 2l

Then, Area = 216 cm2
l x b = 216

It's wrong the correct answer is 12.
Let,
l = x
b = y
P = 5x.
P = 2(x+y) = 5x.
= 2x+2y = 5x,
=2y = 3x,
=y = 3x/2.
Area=l*b=216.
x*3x/2=216,
x*x=432/3,
x= √144,
x=12.
Therefore length(x) of the rectangle is 12.
Let,
l = x
b = y
P = 5x.
P = 2(x+y) = 5x.
= 2x+2y = 5x,
=2y = 3x,
=y = 3x/2.
Area=l*b=216.
x*3x/2=216,
x*x=432/3,
x= √144,
x=12.
Therefore length(x) of the rectangle is 12.

Let us take,
Length=5x
Breadth =1x.
We know,
Perimeter of rectangle=2(length +breath)
According to question,
We can write,
2(5x+1x) = 216.
6x = 216/2,
6x = 108,
X = 108/6,
X = 18cm( answer).
Length=5x

l=3/2x or 1.5x.
Therefore, b=x and l=1.5x.
So, Area;
1.5x * x=216
1.5x^2=216
x^2=144
x=12
Length=1.5x.
= 1.5(12).
= 18 ans.
