In each series, look for the degree and direction of change between the numbers. In other words, do the numbers increase or decrease, and by how much

9.

Look at this series: 8, 22, 8, 28, 8, ... What number should come next?

[A]. 9[B]. 29
[C]. 32[D]. 34

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

This is a simple addition series with a random number, 8, interpolated as every other number. In the series, 6 is added to each number except 8, to arrive at the next number.

Why 6 is added ?

Hi Paulson,

As you will see that 8 is common and 22+6=28, just like that if we want next number of this series so we should add 28+6=34.

Ya. Correct. Thank you. In that second I didn't get that logic. Now I got it.

8 is common so the series is 22,28 ?
28-22=6 it means 6 is added in 22
To get another number we will add 6 in 28
Means 28+6=34

Hi,

First we take first two no.s those are 8,22 substract these two then we get -14.

After that we take next two no.s in sequence those are 22,8 substract these two then we get +14.

After that we take next two no.s in sequence those are 8,28 substract these two then we get -18.

After that we take next two no.s in sequence those are 28,8 substract these two then we get +18.then we get next no. is -14.

Please give explanation for the problem.

In a way we are given only two terms 22 and 28 which are not enough to carve out the logic of the series because there may be other relations between 22 and 28 other than +6 (e.g multiply unit digit by 4 and add carry if any to tens digit and so on or any other such logic). Hence at least one more term should have been given.

It is easy to reach . Because 8 is common number. we have to calculate other than number of ( 22 & 28 ) = 28-22= 6 > So we should use 6 .
22+6= 28
28+6=34 .
So next number should be 34 .

Here every time 6 is added in the number come's after 8 .first add 6 in 22 result come 28, then if we add 6 in 28 then result come 34.
