1.

A and B invest in a business in the ratio 3 : 2. If 5% of the total profit goes to charity and A's share is Rs. 855, the total profit is:

[A]. Rs. 1425[B]. Rs. 1500
[C]. Rs. 1537.50[D]. Rs. 1576

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Let the total profit be Rs. 100.

After paying to charity, A's share = Rs. 95 x 3 = Rs. 57.
5

If A's share is Rs. 57, total profit = Rs. 100.

If A's share Rs. 855, total profit = 100 x 855 = 1500.
57

We will calculate for 100, and by using that we will calculate for the actual value.

Hi guys,

Let take a look on the below

if total profit is 100
remaining profit is 95 (because the 5% profit goes to charity)
so now the profit need distribute to A and B
Bow we can calculate the A's profit
A's Profit = (3/5)*95 = 57
As per problem A got Rs 855
So 57% = 855
So we need full profit = (855/57)*100 = 1500

Let A's share is Rs x
A's Profit after 5% charity is Rs 855, Then
A's net profit after charity is 95% of x is equal to Rs 855i.e.
(95*x)/100=855
x=Rs 900
Let Total profit is Rs Y
A's and B's Share is in Ratio of 3:2
A's share in buisseness is (3*Y)/5 is equal to 900 i.e
(3*Y)/5=900
Total Profit (Y)=Rs 1500

A:B=3:2.
If 5% of the total profit goes to charity.
A's share = 855
let total profit is x
A:B=3x:2x.
A's share = (3x/5)*855=1425.
if 5% added to profit=1425+5%=1500.

Let total profit is x

Then 5% of profit goes to charity= 5x/100

Rest amount is 95% of x= 95x/100
A's share = 855
95x/100*3/5 = 855

x=1500

3->855
2->?
ans= 1500

Mp.Ramakrishnan.Infy said: (Tue, Sep 27, 2011 05:48:44 PM)

No of the share = 5
A is share = 3 , B is share = 2
A's Profit = 855
per share rate 855/3= 285
B's share 285*2= 570
total profit= A+B+5%
95%(A+B)= 1425
5% = 75
total Profit= 1500

Why we are calculating by 100/57 why dont we take 57/100?

How it came 5%?

Lathi said: (Mon, Nov 28, 2011 01:17:35 PM)

As per formulae:Suppose A and B invest Rs. x and Rs. y respectively for a year in a business, then at the end of the year:

(A's share of profit) : (B's share of profit) = x : y.

A's total profit=855+5%0f 855=900
let B,s total profit is x
so 900/x=3/2
x=600

So total profit= A profit+b profit=900+600=1500
