Directions to Solve
Choose the correct alternative that will continue the same pattern and replace the question mark in the given series.
18.
Which term of the series 5, 8, 11, 14,.....is 320?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, 5 + 3 = 8, 8 + 3 = 11, 11 + 3 = 14, .....
So, the series is an A.P. in which a - 5 and d = 3.
Let 320 be the nth term of the series.
Then, 320 = 5 + (n - 1) x 3 or (n - 1) = 105 or n = 106.

a+(n-1)d by this formula they given the answer we just want to calculate the nth term (i.e) a=5,d=3 n=?
So, 5+(n-1)3=320 by solving this equation we get the value of n.
So, 5+(n-1)3=320 by solving this equation we get the value of n.

Remember, the formula for finding nth term in an Arithmetic Progression(AP) is :
nth term = a+(n-1)d.
Where,
a is last term.
d is the difference.
nth term = a+(n-1)d.
Where,
a is last term.
d is the difference.

an = a+(n-1)d.
320 = 5+(n-1) * 3.
320-5 = (n-1) * 3.
315/3 = (n-1).
105 = n-1.
105+1 = 106.
Answer : 106.
320 = 5+(n-1) * 3.
320-5 = (n-1) * 3.
315/3 = (n-1).
105 = n-1.
105+1 = 106.
Answer : 106.

Use the formula,
2^(x - 1) + 2^(x + 1) = 320.
2^(x - 1) + 2^(x + 1) = 320.
