Verbal Reasoning - Series Completion - Discussion
Discussion Forum : Series Completion - Section 1 (Q.No. 21)
Directions to Solve
Choose the correct alternative that will continue the same pattern and replace the question mark in the given series.
21.
13, 32, 24, 43, 35, ?, 46, 65, 57, 76
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The given sequence is a combination of two series:
I. 13, 24, 35, 46, 57 and II. 32, 43, ?, 65, 76
The pattern in both I and II is + 11. So, missing term = 43 + 11 = 54.

One more thing happen to this. In each parity have a difference of 19. Like.
13 + 19 = 32, 24 + 19 = 43 so 35 + 19 = 54.
13 + 19 = 32, 24 + 19 = 43 so 35 + 19 = 54.

Another logic for this question:
Reverse the number and add 1 to it.
For Eg:
13->31+1=32.
32->23+1=24.
So by this series answer should be 54.
Reverse the number and add 1 to it.
For Eg:
13->31+1=32.
32->23+1=24.
So by this series answer should be 54.

Another logic is add 19 add subtract 8 continuously like:
13+19 = 32,
32-8 = 24,
24+19 = 43,
43-8 = 35 and so on..
I like solution of @Anusekhar. Nice observation skill.
13+19 = 32,
32-8 = 24,
24+19 = 43,
43-8 = 35 and so on..
I like solution of @Anusekhar. Nice observation skill.

Tens digit of each term = unit digit of preceding term.
For unit digit following pattern follows:
Unit digit of preceding term-1,unit digit of preceding term+2.
13->3-1 = 2-->32.
32->2+2 = 4-->24.
24->4-1 = 3-->43.

24->4-1 = 3-->43.

Sum of each no. is in series starting with 4. i.e 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
And first digit of each no. is also in order, like smaller in first than bigger in second than smaller and bigger.
So answer is 54 because sum is 9. And bigger digit first.

@Anushekhar.
According to me the logic is not suitable.
The logic for this question is not good because by reversing the number and adding 1 to its simple but did you thought that by adding these two numbers the total becomes 56 which is not in the option?
So how could you say that this series can give the answer or should be 54 as the answer?

Alternative 11 add eg. 13+11=24 24+11=35 32+11=43 and so on.

The series starts with 13.To have the next term we will have to exchange the positions of the digits in the number and then we'll have to add 1 to it. And so on.
Like:To have the next term to 13,
1. Exchange the places of the digits. ie:31
2. Add 1 to it. ie:(31+1)=32.
Similarly to have the term next to 35 ,the steps are :
1.35 to 53,
2.53+1=54.

+19 and -8 to get next number.
Like;
13+(+19) = 32,
32+(-8) = 24,
24+(+19) = 43.
43+(-8) = 35.
35+(+19) = 54.
Like;
13+(+19) = 32,
32+(-8) = 24,
24+(+19) = 43.
43+(-8) = 35.
35+(+19) = 54.
