A sentence is a group of words and phrases and it can be changed for our convenience.
Eg: She is the apple of my eye. (means she is my favourite).
But a phrase cannot be changed. Its just a group of words whose meaning is a little hard to understand.
In the above sentence Apple of my eye is the phrase.

@All.
Alphabets are called letters, many letters joined together convey a meaning and forms a word, some words arranged together form a phrase (it's only a part of a sentence not a complete sentence), and some words along with some phrases can form a sentence, and sentences in turn forms a Paragraph.

The alphabet is called a letter.
Many letters put together form words or express a meaning.
Arranging some words together forms a sentence and the sentence turns into a paragraph.

@Ishika Gupta.
A group of the sentence makes 'letter', but in the question, there is 'letters'. So your answer is not true, as letters make a word, this way is most appropriate.
