South is the correct answer.
The question says 'from which direction did I start my journey' - so, After the end of the journey if you look back you'll see that he started from south.
If the had been say - 'Towards which direction did I start my journey?' then the answer will have been North.
Hope you got it!

Answer will be north.
Walked 6 km in north direction then turned right, means now walking in east and cover 2 km now he turned left that means he is again walking in north direction.
