North is the correct answer because he is facing towards north.

North is the correct answer.

Because in the diagram above, eventually I am at east if in the end, I was moving to north, so I have to take a left turn from the east and consequently my starting point will be shifted to left, which is at the north. Am I right?

South is the correct answer.

The question says 'from which direction did I start my journey' - so, After the end of the journey if you look back you'll see that he started from the south.

If the had been say - 'Towards which direction did I start my journey?' then the answer will have been North.

Don't consider the starting point as a centre.

As he finally reaches to the north so he started from the south as it is completely opposite and it is not asked the reference to starting point so south-west can't be the answer.

According to me, North is the right because they have not mentioned where to start.

North is right. If the south is answer then the question should be 'the direction with respect to the ending point '.
