If we look at the point at the end of the journey he started from south-west not south. But according to the question, the answer is North.

I think he was moving north because after moving for 6km he took a right turn and walked right it means he moved in upward direction.

South is the right answer. The question is asking from which direction, not to which direction.

Start from north, move 6 km farword ie. south dir then take right ie. East then left i.e North.
