Hemant may go to any direction even he started from east he may go to north, south or any other. How it is considered that he always move to west from east?

Please explain me.

Really, the term, "started from his house in the east" is ambiguous which means either his house in the east or he walked in the east. So which is right?

This problem doesn't provide any indication of the potential direction of the University at any stage. We're to "assume" the University is in the only remaining direction but there's no reason why this should be true.
