Verbal Reasoning - Direction Sense Test - Discussion

As per my knowledge, here the statement '. Started from his house in the east. ' states the location of the house and NOT the direction in which he went; because usually when the direction in which a person is moving is mentioned it is usually stated in the following way i.e. started from his house TOWARDS east.

Here towards means the direction in which the person is walking, while the statement mentioned in the question '. From his house in the east. ' signifies the location as mentioned earlier.

Nowhere it is mentioned that hemant moves to the west from his house at east. House can be situated at any direction it has no connection to which direction he chooses initially to move. He can either move to north, south or west as it is not mentioned newhere that the crossing is opposite to his home so it is not necessary that hemant moves only in the west direction starting from his house located in the east.

In case of direction problems you don't need to think too much complicatedly. Generally it is supposed to walk in the straight line if no other directional condition is given. So, it is apparent that after exiting from home he must go towards west as his home situated in east.

If we consider he moved right from his house as east, then according to the problem his university should be in the south because he is coming from west, the road straight is the east, the one at his left is the theatre hence to the right i.e south is the university.

I thought he starts from his home, say the origin and moves towards east. So I concluded that the university is towards the south but the explanation shows exactly the opposite of that. It is not mentioned that the house is in the east.

"Hemant started walking from his house in the east" in this question Hemant started walking towards west but in other same type of question.

They are walking towards east. I am confused. Which one is correct? please help.

This problem doesn't provide any indication of the potential direction of the University at any stage. We're to "assume" the University is in the only remaining direction but there's no reason why this should be true.

If Hemant's house is in the East, he can walk towards west or extreme East. If he choose the West then answer is North otherwise answer is South. They should mention the actual direction.

Hemant may go to any direction even he started from east he may go to north, south or any other. How it is considered that he always move to west from east?

Hey guys, listen here already the question was mentioned that the house is located in the direction of east to the university. So Hemanth had to walk towards the west.
