South is the correct answer. If it was north, the shadow of the pole would fall to the left of him.

The answer is correct because, try to assume that you are facing south in the sunrise, in front of you there is a pole now both shadows of the pole and you will be to west I. E; right to you. T.
Given "The shadow of the pole fell exactly 'to' his right. ".
It is "to" not "on" so it means it seems to you as your shadow is falling a side which is right-hand side of you.
All you people thinking that it is "on" in a sentence which means POLE's shadow on your right side and your shadow is on your back. IT IS WRONG.

It is option D, because pole has no side.

The answer would be North, since here they mentioned in the question as the shadow of the pole, not Suresh's shadow.
