But how do you know that Suresh was facing towards the sun rise direction? And in question it was the poles shadow not Suresh's! Can anyone please explain a bit more?

Why not with the north?

The answer would be North, since here they mentioned in the question as the shadow of the pole, not Suresh's shadow.

The correct answer is North.

It is option D, because pole has no side.

South is the correct answer. If it was north, the shadow of the pole would fall to the left of him.

The answer is correct because, try to assume that you are facing south in the sunrise, in front of you there is a pole now both shadows of the pole and you will be to west I. E; right to you. T.

Given "The shadow of the pole fell exactly 'to' his right. ".

It is "to" not "on" so it means it seems to you as your shadow is falling a side which is right-hand side of you.

All you people thinking that it is "on" in a sentence which means POLE's shadow on your right side and your shadow is on your back. IT IS WRONG.
