At 6:00 pm we have to set direction such that it hour hand become shows the north direction, and we know 12 is just opposite to 12 than minute will show south direction.

But when the time become 9:15 the hour hand move 90 degree in clock and minute hand also move in 90 degree clock wise.

Then at that situation hour hand directed toward east direction and minute hand direct west direction.

Here all things are reversed. If you don't understand, just reversed your clock and look when it's 9.15 what is the direction of the minute hand. Hope you will get the thing.

According to me, the answer is east.

Here the question is about the minute hand, not the hour hand.

When the minute hand faces south at 6.00 PM, then at 9.15 it faces towards East.

Actually 12 became 6 ,3=9 ,6=12, 9=3.

So, at the time of 9:15 min hand will be on 3=9 and in direction of west.

In 9.15 what is the hour hand direction?

K.chandru Naidu said: (May 17, 2017)
East is right. The Hour hand shows north. Minute hand at 12shows south at 9.15 hour hand at 9 i.e west. Opposite minute hand east.

No, the given answer is correct.

All the conditions written in the question, becomes reverse actually. At 6'o clock it point towards north instead of south, so that minute hand after 15 min. It will point towards west instead of the east. i.e west is the correct answer.

It is Simple first,

Make the Orginal 2 clocks them put the 6 end upwards(North) And On the second Clock make the it 9:15 the put it in a Same way as the ist clock is placed As I mean 6 should b towards Northwards. our 9 will b our east now and 3 will be west. our minute hand will b on 3 as the time is 9:15 so that is the answer (west).

Sam said: (Jun 16, 2018)
The answer should be S-E (south east).

Kiran said: (Jul 20, 2018)
According to me, East is the right answer.

Kens said: (Aug 16, 2018)
South East is the correct answer.

Dhana said: (Aug 20, 2018)
North direction keep 6'clk (6-MH,12-HH).
So south is 12.
West is 3,
East is 9.

Now;

A question asking minutes point.

15mints mean 3.
So 12 to 3 (S to W).

So, the answer is West.

Ruvina said: (Sep 1, 2018)
The answer should be East. Because according to question.

The hour hand is on 6 in North n min. Hand on 12 towards south. So to clock it at 9:15. We move it n now the hour hand is on 9 towards east & min hand on 3 directed towards west. So we are ask for the hour hand so the answer should be east.

Rucha said: (Sep 27, 2018)
Answer west is correct as said in question 6 o'clock hr hand shows north direction hence the direction is totally reversed north becomes south so and at 9:15 the min hand will show west. So, given answer is correct.

Anzalna said: (Feb 5, 2019)
According to me the answer is south east.

R.Raju said: (Aug 27, 2019)
Actually, 6pm hour hand is pointing 6 but they showing 12.,ie North means opposite to the 6pm in that case 15min. Actually showing (east) but the opposite is the answer. i.e west.

Vasanthim said: (Sep 23, 2019)
How it's possible?

According to me, it is East.

KALAIJAIN said: (Oct 3, 2019)
IT'S SIMPLE

At first 6 o'clock pointing towards north.
So keep your watch as 6 o'clock and make 6 hour hand as north.
Keep it as same and change the time as 9.15.
Now minute hand points towards west :).

Kajal said: (Oct 14, 2019)
Is the clock rate 7:20 and if the minute hand is in the south east direction in which direction will the hour hand point? please explain mee.

Gaurav said: (Aug 14, 2020)
Both hour and minute hand move 180 degree and both will interchange their position.

HITESH NEHRA said: (Aug 15, 2020)
Agree, The answer will be west.

Manish said: (Jan 12, 2021)
Just put in place of 12 or just reverse clock such as 6 is on top that time this condition satisfy. Cos at time of 9. 15-hour hand is on 9 and the minute hand is on 3 that is 15 min. So, 3 is exactly opposite to 9 and as 9 is on east 3 is on the west.

Mohammad said: (Apr 10, 2021)
@All.

Let me explain

Rahul has tweaked his clock so, that 6 becomes North. So, that means 12 is South now, but that also means 9 is now East and 3 is now West. The clock has rotated completely, understand?

Now they ask you which direction is the MINUTE HAND pointing at, when its 9 hours and 15 MINUTES. Since everything is reversed now, the hour hand instead instead it of being in the West in a normal clock is now in the East. And in a normal clock when 15 minutes passed, the minute hand is at 3. But since everything is reversed now, the minute hand is POINTING WEST.

So, West is the correct answer.
