Statements:

  1. Last year 2935 cards were sold.
  2. The number of cards sold this year was 1.2 times that of last year.

[B]. II alone is sufficient while I alone is not sufficient
[C]. Either I or II is sufficient
[D]. Neither I nor II is sufficient
[E]. Both I and II are sufficient

Answer: Option E

Explanation:

Here little bit confusing. Because, no. of cards are calculated.

But, it is asked "new year's greeting cards" specifically.

Cards includes new year card, birthday card, valentines day card, etc...... know, Then how we decide option E.

In given question How many New Year's greeting cards were sold this year is asked, how to identify a new year's greeting cards without giving any further information about sale of new year's cards.

Therefore I conclude option D is the answer.

Kindly give me your thought about my answer.

I think B is the option because this year we may get loss or profit and also the cards sold last year may not be equal to the cards sold this year.

But in B mentioned that the cards sold this year is 1.2 times more than the last year.

So, I go for B.

My option is D because none of the two given options clearly state the category of sold cards. 2935 of the sold cards may include any category of cards:birthday, valentine etc. But the question specifically asks about New Year's Greeting cards.
