Question: The Chairman of a big company visits one department on Monday of every week except for the Monday of third week of every month. When did he visit the Purchase department ?
Statements:
- He visited Accounts department in the second week of September after having visited Purchase department on the earlier occasion.
- He had visited Purchase department immediately after visiting Stores department but before visiting Accounts department.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
From I, we can conclude that the Chairman visited Purchase department on Monday of the first week of September.
The time of visit of no department is mentioned in II, which is, therefore, insufficient.

Either I or II. Because out of 4 Monday in a month, 3rd week Monday he not went to visit. So, In 2nd statement, its concluded that Purchase department is visited between Account and Store department where 3rd week cannot be visited. So, he visits the purchase department in 2nd week.

The statement clearly says that he visits "one" dept on Monday of every week. So your argument is invalid here that all the depts are covered in one day. However, the A statement mentions week, i.e, Second week and month, i.e. September but in B statement nothing is given.
So for statement B, the sequence can also be 4th week of Aug-Stores dept and Ist week of September-Purchase or any other sequence for that matter. It is indefinite information and hence only A can be stated as the answer.

A is the correct answer.
@Trishul D is not the answer as we treat each statement separately and it is given clearly that in the month of sept. In which week were the reported departments covered but in the second case, immediately word is used which gives a scope of covering all departments at 1 day of the week, ie, there is no clarity of the time period. Thus the second case is insufficient and A is the correct answer.

Statement-2 indicates that purchase department is visited immediately after visiting store department. So, purchase department is visited in fourth week as it is immediately followed by store department in third week. Purchase dept cannot be visited in third week since it is mentioned that it immediately follows store department but in second week no debt can be visited.
So, our conclusion it is in fourth week but, also mentioned that before accounts dept it is visited so, no conclusion can be drawn. So, statement-1 alone required.

Nowhere is it mentioned that Purchase, Accounts and Store are the only department in the company. So in my opinion it should be D.
Moreover, in statement I it is only said that prior to visiting Accounts, he visited Purchase 'on an earlier occasion'. It doesn't specify whether it is immediate or after a gap of some specified no.of weeks. So, A can't be the answer.

Either 1 or 2 is sufficient. Because He had visited Purchase department immediately after visiting Stores department but before visiting Accounts department. Thus the order of visiting depts. Is stores, then purchase then accounts. It is mentioned that he visits debts, except 3rd week, i.e., thrice a month.

The words "very next week" do not matter at all. II does not mention the particular week, he visited.

In the option II the word immediately does it not means that very next week?
