Please read the sentence properly.

The first statement did not mention about the teenagers. So, it's a common statement for all age groups. Plus it says that "it leads to", which makes it an effect, but we still don't know what is its cause.

The second statement says that the teenagers suicide rate is increasing and it may or may not be stress but we all are living the same lifestyle according to question and the teenagers also come in it.

So, there is something because of our lifestyle that is causing stress and also increasing the suicide rates of teenagers.

I strongly believe that stress can either lead to depression and other psychoneurotic ailments like panic attacks or suicides!

In statement 1: It's clear that life is hard and because many things are expected out of us (all age groups) life becomes stressful and obv stress leads to depression. When they don't recover from depression, the last step is suicide.

But not to forget that in 2nd statement it spoke about teenagers doing suicide.

So, the common element is "stress". Hence Option E.

@Sanket: when statements are given which have strong relation to each other then it can't be assumed that suicidal tendency is because of some other reason. You are taking this assumption only because you have seen [E] as answer and then accepting that and accordingly making your assumption.

First statement clearly indicates that stress level is on increase so suicidal tendency among teenagers is an obvious effect to the situation.

Answer should be [A].

We don't know why teenagers are committing suicide. It may or may not be stress.

Suicidal tendency is increasing in today's life. So there is something related to today's lifestyle but what is it we exactly don't know.

Hence E.

In your case you are assuming that Stress leads to suicide. Which is ambiguous.

Is stressful situation the cause here? The main cause is a fast life. And a fast life can obviously lead to a stressful situation. But can fast life lead to a suicide?

According to me, NO.

If you think yes it can. Please explain with an example.

@Nikhil.

The statement I is generic in nature means it applied for all age group.
But statement II is specific about teenagers.

@All.

Though we all know stressful situation leads to suicide but it is not written anywhere in those 2 sentences.

Yeah, because of the stressfull job, the teenagers attempt suicide. So the statement is dependent on each other.

The Reason for suicide could be anything. The Cause should not be common. It should be D.
