But gravity always has a pulling effect whereas magnetism can pull as well as push i.e. attraction and repulsion. So is there a chance of ambiguity there?

I think both Gravity and pull can perform same work as attraction.Magnetism and attraction also do the same work.

Pull is the property that gravity has and in the same way attraction is the property that magnetism has.
