After - before given can be interpreted as future and past.
So, we are looking for an option that represents the Future and Past. Not in reverse order of any kind.
Option 1: first - second (it's talking about present and future).
Option 2: present - past (still not future and past).
Option 3: contemporary - historic (talking about the present and past).
Option 4. Successor and predecessor (future and past).
This is the correct option that matches the word given.
I hope you all understand.

After and before behaves like a future and past tense.
Something that was happened before....past and history correct.
But something will happened after....present and contemporary can't be correct.
So, successor:predecessor is a right answer.
Example 1,2,3 :- 2's predecessor is 1 and its successor is 3.
I hope you got my point.

Successor: a pesson or thing that succeeds another.
Predessor: a thing that has been followed or replaced by another.
That means Succesor comes AFTER predessor and Predessor comes BEFORE successor.
Hence I feel this is the closest relationship with After:Before.

I think AFTER and BEFORE are opposite ends with respect to something in between them. Suppose, BEFORE CHRIST- AFTER CHRIST.
So this is refered to time dimension, hence contemporary: history refers the similar connection.

Successor is a person who got the job after the previous worker, hence a predecessor is a person who got the job before someone else.

Historic tells of the 'past' (before).
Similarly present and contemporary. So why not B and C ?
