The definition of fake is someone or something that is not genuine.

Fake is defined as KNOCKOFF or someone or something that isn't what it appears to be.

An example of fake is a person who is phony and who pretends to be nice where he is not.

An example of fake is a person who pretend to be sick when he is not.

An example of fake is when you forge a signature.

Imitation means something that is made to look like something else.

Imitation is act of copying or a fake or copy of something.

For example fish pieces sold as crab.

I don't agree because

Fake is -ive word.
Imitation can be +ive.

Eg.

1. Chinese are good at producing fake technology.(technology dont work)
2. Chinese are good at imitating technology.(technology work but copied from other)

Fake means not real. But imitation mean real but copied from original. Both are quite different but here can be considered as equal because no other options are nearer to fake.

Imitate is copying things, so the closest out of all the given options is of course fake. But it is not the most accurate meaning at large.

Fake may or may be connected to reality but original, loyal, and trustworthy are some how related to reality and imitation is same as fake.

All of you know that fake means it's not original. So it is the copy of the original one. Which is an imitation of something.

Since original, trustworthy & loyal belongs to the positive attitude then the fake or negative will be imitation.

C and D are synonymous. Fake can't be original. Imitation is stands for similar appearance but not the original one.

Fake - very next word to copy or copied imitate-to behave like someone else or to do the same like anyone before.
