The answer is A.
The error is the use of "about" after "discussed".
The verb "discuss" is a transitive verb that does not require a preposition after it; "we discussed the problem" is the correct construction.

A is perfect. But what about c ?
Shouldn't it be " that I found very easy to work it out" ?

We use "about" after "discussion" for example we had a long discussion about the problem.
But when we write"discuss", we don't use "about" after it.
For example: we discussed the problem.
Trick is : a discussion about something to discuss something.

Problem here is not specific, I mean what kind of problem is it?
They didn't mention the specific problem, it seems like an examination problem but what types of problem, reading issue, studying the issue, or maybe some other issues. We don't know the specifics problem that why using the article "the" in the sentence is incorrect. We should use the article "a" instead of "the".

That's because when we write the sentence as"we discussed the problem thoroughly" the meaning of the sentence is clearly understood. There is no need of 4 us to use "about" or "so". They don't add any extra meaning to the sentence.
