Already thoroughly states a subject is briefly analyzed. Hence So is not required.

According to Grammatical rule,if any thing is unknown in discussion,then we use 'about' ,in 2nd case if our problem is already known then we do not 'about'.

In grammar, remember this discusses as a verb does not take preposition "about" and for your further reference please see oxford advanced learner's.
