Whats the difference between two grammar wise?

2- He asked me why I called him a rogue?

-Both are past tenses?

Both answers false because the correct answer should be He asked me why did I Called him a rogue?

Because it is the correct in simple past tense.

No, the correct answer is I called him a vogue as there is no need to add did into simple past tense. So, 2 is the right option.

Did will never come with second or third form, it always comes with only first form. So, did I called is totally wrong.

I guess both the sentence is grammatically correct, I am not getting, why the sentence needs to be corrected if the actual sentence is grammatically correct.
