If the subjects are connected by OR, the verb used will be singular And All the sentences that begin with EACH, EVERYONE and ANYONE will have a singular verb.

Since "Every" is treated as singular, "knows" is correct :-).

I think it's 'every motorist who knows'. That is not used here because the motorist is a person and not a thing.
