"none but" is a word which itself means "nobody except" or "only" therefore correct usage of grammar is seen in question.
So, the answer is d.
Also, we sometimes use "all but" for "almost".
So one can say that "none" but and "all but" are idioms for "only" and "almost" respectively.

The answer may also tune in following manner:.
He loved none but only his neighbour's daughter.

The answer is 'B' because you are meant to say "He loved "NO ONE" but his neighbour's daughter.
