A lift is an elevator. You can't either ascend it or move it. You "take" it as the proper verb to be used.

I say there is no improvement because the direction clearly says that there are alternatives for the italicised and underlined part of the sentence. The italicised and underlined part of the sentence is "I go in a lift", if one replaces it with one of the below options, it does not make any sense.

Eg. "Every time take a lift to my sixth floor".
