If implies the subjunctive. So we use were in such situations. "Will and was" denotes a certainity. While if is not certain so were suits here.

No, it is would have to be "if the whole world was banded" because the world is singular.

Dear all, The second sentence has a pronoun, "Them", which indicates that the whole world represents people who are against for truth.
