We can say high expectation, high ambition But one cannot say burning, extreme ambition. As because it sounds odd.

Because hot in the sense burning, it doesn't make any difference even we substitute.
Getting into the record is a high ambition for every hunter but it's not mandatory that it should be a burning desire for every hunter.
