Option A means the action had already taken place. But it seems he found the gold during the action. So my answer would be he found the gold while he was cleaning the floor or " as he cleaned the floor" or as he was cleaning the floor".

While cleaning is correct.

He found the gold coin - Simple past.

He cleans the floor - Simple present.

If you join two clauses there must be parallelism in statement.

So make it 'While Cleaning' which is a phrase.

Only this option makes some sense. The sentence is in simple tense and A and B option are in past perfect and present respectively. So the write one is D option.

1st part of sentence is in past tense. So I think another should also be in the past tense. So answer should A.

@Deepti.

I will explain you.

The sentence is in simple present tense. And it was an on going action. So while cleaning should be used.

If the first sentence is in past tense then we also use A option which is past perfect.
