Here "Speak for itself/themselves" refers to showing something clearly that doesn't need any explanation to make clear. But "Speak about something/someone" refers to talking about sth/sb. Hence option-B is the best choice.

First part of the sentence is is simple past tense, hence in the second part of the sentence we can't used -ing verb form.
