Can we use "The crime"? Will the correct answer be like this: Crimes ahve grown rapidly in Russia since the disintegration of the communist system.

I feel that crime cannot be used as singular in cases other than the following : The crime committed by him should be brought to light.

Kindly advise me on this question.

The crime has been rapidly growing since the disintegration of the communist system.

None of the options is correct in my opinion as "since" is used in the sentence so has been plus ing form will be used here.

I think the answer should be option D because of passive voice. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It is simple perfect tense because crime is going on now and past.
