I beleive that option E is absolutely right answer because as here " they" refers to crowd which is perfect. So no correction required.

Because he is asking the audience whether he is right or not and the audience should reply that he is correct.

May be the sentence is in passive voice so E is correct answer.
That he did is wrong because the sentence is in passive voice.

Option A is right because in question they are talking about "he was right" so in answer it should come that "that he did".

Here "they did" says that the crowd had agreed with him. I think its option A. Please check the answer once again.

Yes, OPTION E seems to be appropriate as THAT THEY DID means that they are actually supporting whatever he says.

Option C is not correct as it changes the tense. A is right as it correctly refers back to the crowd.
