These are the prepositions I would use.
Another example:
I had a bad habit of biting my nails.
I sought treatment for my habit.
I was cured of the bad habit.
I can't imagine "I was cured from the bad habit".

Cured OF is used when cure is a verb in the sentence, thus, answer is OF. FROM is used when cure is a noun in the sentence.

Cure of = cure of someone of something. It's an idioms.
