Degrade is not correct because degrade means to disrespect or breaking down by layers.

Defame is not correct because defame means to mar the reputation. Reputation and image are two different things. The image can be spoiled not degraded or defamed.

I think degrade is correct here because non-cooperative attitude has a lower effect. While some major event like robbery or murder spoils the image. There is no grammatical error while using them in a sentence. Correct me if I am wrong.

Degrade is generally used for 'person', 'company' etc. Who lost their credibilty and value in public.

Degrade or defame will be apt for single person's image than for a group of people.

We use degrade while talking about the image. So degrade sounds more effective.

Why can't we put degrade instead of spoil? Let me know if any one knew it.

Spoil is correct because defame we use when someone do it deliberately.
