The correct option is Archaeology.

Archaeology is the study of ancient societies through the examination of their material remains, such as artefacts, buildings, and tools. This field involves excavating sites, analyzing artifacts, and reconstructing the past based on the evidence found.

Anthropology is the study of human societies and cultures, both past and present. While it can involve studying ancient societies, it also encompasses a much broader range of topics.

History is the study of past events, often focusing on written records and documents. While it can overlap with archaeology, history primarily relies on textual sources.

Ethnology is the study of contemporary cultures, particularly those that are non-Western. It focuses on understanding and comparing different societies and their customs.

History is a whole atmosphere which is related to past events and activities of past kings and their societies, so ancient living societies are studied in history. Archaeology is the study of dead things not live. Then how can it be the study of ancient socities?
