I think what he was saying, it was like he was speaking his own world. He dosesn't know what has happened in the outer world. It has proceeded much more.

Nonsense means "did not mind" and leads to thinking ignorance Why?
Because if someone is talking nonsense you might feel the need to correct or stop him to show that you're hurt/offended/disappointed.
