Guys if you have seen a straw then you don't need to struggle much. A straw has no mass it is thin and hollow in the middle of no weight. It means WEAK.
As ''A MAN OF STRAW'' means a man who is weak like a straw.

here straw mean ther's nothing in it & empty...therefore a man of no substance is correct meaning that the man has nothing in him..
